A 27-year-old Asian woman was stabbed in the subway station at 96th Street and Broadway at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Police found the woman, who had been stabbed once in the left torso, on the northbound 2 train platform. She told police that a six-foot-tall black male had approached her, displayed a knife, and grabbed her purse. The two struggled before he stabbed her.

The man fled the station through the 94th Street exit, and the victim was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition.

As of Sunday night, police said that detectives were looking for video footage of the attack and that an investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.

If video is found, it will likely be released to the public to help identify the suspect. Anyone with information can call 1-800-577-TIPS.
