With few resources, child care a burden for many graduate student-parents

Eighteen percent of over 1,400 survey respondents said they had considered having children but decided against it while in school. Many graduate students have difficulty juggling their roles as students and parents, and the price tag that comes with them.

According to the Graduate Student Advisory Council’s Quality of Life Survey, 91 percent of graduate students with children, classified Columbia’s support of student-parents as average to poor.
